Harmonie hält uns zusammen! The choir is at the heart of our club, and we are proud to be Louisville’s oldest singing society since 1878. We are, after all, the German-American Club Gesangverein, which translates to choral society.

Most will be surprised to hear that you do not need to be a great singer, read music, OR read or speak German to join us! We are a social choir and our main goal is fun and Gemütlichkeit. We sing a selection of both German- and English-language songs—and we’ve even mixed in some other languages from time to time.

You will learn all you need to know about the music and lyrics from our choir director and other choir members. We are always looking for new singers, so please, JOIN US! All you have to do is show up, pour yourself a beer, relax, and sing along.

Our winter season begins in late September and culminates in our annual Christmas concert and dinner at the club. Our spring season begins in January and culminates in a district or national Sängerfest, where we join other German choirs around the country for a weekend of singing and festivities. We also host a Spring concert and dinner at the club. The choir is off in the summer months.

We practice at the club on Thursdays, from 7:30PM – 9:00PM.

You must be a club member to be a member of our choir, but we welcome anyone to come to a few practices to try it out. We guarantee a fun time.

Choir Director: Justin Romney
